Starting the FAQ over from the bottom. What are the questions you want answered?

In the spirit of things:
Why was the old FAQ deleted?
Also, shouldn't the old FAQ at least be up until you have something to replace it with? Some noobs are going to be caught in the interregnum, and then Yoric will kill and eat them.
Survival of the fittest sums that up. Yoric is like the Apex Predator somewhat, he weeds out the weak… Other then that I think he's a good guy.
Now insert REDACTED image of Yoric as a Liopleurodon.
Edit: Didn't spell Liopleurodon right.
You're a carnivorous marine reptile from the Jurassic, Yoric, who eats the ignorant. This is the image of you that has been cultivated.
"WELL FOUNDATION. YOU MADE IT SO EASY. SO VERY VERY EASY." - dimensionpotato
GODDAMMIT SORTS. I TRIED SO HARD TO AVOID MAKING THAT REFERENCE. YOU BASTARD
Apparently you HAVEN'T figured out how to load images. You uploaded this to the FAQ.
I advise practicing in the Sandbox
Sorry. Didn't realize that images are uploaded to a place in the wiki, as opposed to being uploaded to the wiki generally.
It's actually important for two reasons.
Since it's one of those things that comes up in the chat over and over and over.
"How do I familiarize myself with the site?"
Yeah, it's a stupid question with a simple answer, but it seems that nobody can figure this one out for themselves.
Why does the Foundation keep this SCP around? Why don't they just destroy/kill it? Well, for starters, if you've read our logo, you know SCP stands for Secure, Contain, Protect, not Destroy, Destroy, Destroy. That said, if we destroyed everything, we wouldn't have much of a site, would we? In character… suspension of disbelief. Make something up, if it's good, it might be used.
yes can we have this one back please people are asking about this in chat even now
I dunno, if there's no clear reason why an SCP still exists (ie, it can clearly be destroyed, there is reason to want it destroyed and the writeup doesn't explain why nobody's at least tried destroying it) that is something of a writing issue. "Make something up" sorta skirts the issue that the writer should have made something up in the first place. The containment procedure would presumably include things like who's allowed to regularly take measurements or samples for project X which is trying to do ill-advised thing Y with it.
Because destruction is the absolute last resort. It doesn't matter that it's dangerous. The Foundation still wants to keep it contained, if possible.
We used to have a lot more articles justify the objects continued existence. It got people thinking that the Foundation wants to destroy all anomalous objects. It's better if the articles don't even bring it up unless destruction is necessary. That way, people will see that containment is the norm, not destruction.
Still not sure about that as an absolute; if I'm reading through an SCP and I end up thinking "what is the point of keeping this?" it's kinda failed the interest check. It should really be self-evident why they're keeping it, either it has some form of use or interesting property, they can't destroy it, they don't know what would happen if they did destroy it, whatever. "Glass rod that kills the entire world unless you brutally torture fifty class D to death every hour" is naturally going to get people asking why they don't just smash it since it's nothing but a pain in the ass. The way it's currently written strikes me as blaming the reader for something that's potentially the writer's fault; asking them to suspend their disbelief requires the author to give them something to suspend it from.
See, the point in keeping things is that the Foundation is pack rats. one day, these things will come in handy. Do we use them right now? probably not. But, one day, there might be a use, even if its just to deal with other SCPs. and, mostly, the idea is that the Foundation contains things. It's what we do, who we are, we contain them. If the best way to contain something is in pieces, then yes, we'll take that route.

Whether or not it's worth keeping around depends on why the Foundation is containing the objects. This is part of the reason we keep the Foundation's motivations so vague. We don't really know the stakes, and so it's very difficult to judge what's worthwhile and what isn't, except from observation of what they do try to destroy. Maybe they are wrong. Or maybe they're right. Speculating on their motives is one of the joys of this site.
What are these -D, -ARC, and -EX SCPs that people keep talking about? They're not on the main list with the -J SCPs. Where can I find them?
edit: Note, yes, of course I know the answer to this by now.
That… is actually a reasonable question. Their lists probably SHOULD be linked from the main list somewhere.
IMHO, there ought to be an index page of Every Damn Thing that gets updated every time a new article is added. There are articles (some are good articles) which aren't really SCPs, or creepypasta, or one of the various other things for which there are indexes. But they're hard to find.
Well, the article you linked is a Foundation Tale and linked on that page…
Do you know how many people actually read the Tales? Or how long it takes the average User to find out about them? It's shameful.

Yeah, I have to admit it is.
I've read all the SCPs, which took me months, and it's only now that I'm reading through the Tales. They seemed… much more intimidating than they really are. More people should read them.

"Aren't 173 and 055 just ripoffs of the Weeping Angels and the Silence?"
Seeing as 173 was posted on /x/ about a month before Blink (which, in that, the Angels didn't even hurt you, just throw you back in time), and 055 was written like in 2008… No. No they are not.
And before people start asking the reverse question, due to the way TV dramas work, Blink would have to have been written before SCP-173 existed. (I'm not clear on the air dates, but I'm assuming Blink was first aired in the UK shortly after SCP-173 was put up on /x/.)
Convergent idea evolution. It happens.
What is procedure 110-Montauk? An amateur shadowcast of the Rocky Horror picture Show.
This made my day.
In an eerie way that's even creepier than the psychotic images conjured by Procedure 110-Montauk.
