After d-class finish their time in the foundation are they terminated? is it a site by site choice? I know that they wouldn't release them but what does happen?
I am wondering what happens to D-class if they are pardoned for their crimes after their "execution".
Uhh… if someone's on death row, I don't think they've been executed yet? Unless you're saying that the Foundation handles their D-class recruitment by faking a ton of executions, in which case… probably nothing happens if the person is pardoned. If everyone outside the Foundation believes the person to be dead, they may have the pardon noted in their standing records, if any, but the Foundation's not going to potentially blow their cover by allowing a believed-dead person to rejoin society solely because they were posthumously pardoned.
Of course, there is no canon, so you can believe whatever you want.
Okay, I thought that the D-class were all taken after their executions were supposed to happen (because a bunch of inmates disappearing from death row before their executions might cause suspicion) but now that I think about it faking executions would be more difficult than covering up the disappearances.
My friend wanted to write a tale concerning a D-class who was pardoned and was then (through some very strange circumstances) allowed to advance from D-class, but that scenario seems counter to the Foundation's behavior in the past, so the tale would need some very good writing to pull it off successfully.
My friend wanted to write a tale
Why isn't your friend asking the question? Sharing an account is against site rules; if your friend would like to write for the site, please ask them to create their own account.
concerning a D-class who was pardoned and was then (through some very strange circumstances) allowed to advance from D-class,
I don't think it's possible to "advance from D-class", security clearance-wise. Foundation personnel, including researchers, security guards, and agents, all are hired based on documented ability and experience and have been trained to perform the duties the Foundation requires of them in various settings, from the laboratory to in the field. Someone who doesn't have that background isn't going to get promoted into those jobs anytime soon.
There is no canon.
In the early days, yes, they talked about monthly terminations as literally that. However, there's no way you could have enough prisoners for that for long.
So, others came up with other possibilities: amnestics and transferring to other sites, longer programs, bringing in refugees, etc.
But in the end, the answer is: whatever you can successfully convey it is.
Security and Clearances says:
Class D personnel are to be given regular mandatory psychiatric evaluations and are to be administered an amnestic of at least Class B strength or terminated at the end of the month at the discretion of on-site security or medical staff.
I know the answer I think. They tell the class-D's that they will be freed after a month so that way they cooperate. THINK OF IT! If you were told that you were gonna be executed after being tested on, you might as well just let the scp's kill you. So they probably say that your going to be free so that way the class-D people will be obiedient to the researchers and guards during testings so they am get info on the anomalies.
